Nike temporary store opening

On Friday, 08.08.08, some 400 media types, creatives and local celebrities in Berlin congregated at Münzstrasse 20 for the Nike temporary store, 0808, opening. Prosecco flowed from the open bar, DJs spun old-school ‘90s grooves like Tupac and The Fugees, limited edition sneakers and jackets lined the walls in the solid wood, gallery-like space.

Unlike was there, of course, partaking in the street-savvy goodness. Here’s a few snapshots from the party—watch out for our story on the artists exhibited in the space on our homepage later.

Two happy party goers.

What started with vino tino and tostada de huevos de codorniz in Barcelona turned into a full-fledged love affair with the city of Barcelona.

Vienna surprised us even more with an artist’s haven of a place, offspace, that we would have never expected to find in Austria’s capital.

After few stressful weeks hovered over the computer, we sojourned to peaceful Copenhagen and recharged at one of the city’s foliage-filled gardens.

Suddenly, we found ourselves with three more cities on our radar. Barcelona, Vienna and Copenhagen: countless of hours collecting, testing, and editing. We’re taking a little weekend vacation now—we’ve earned it.

A good "plaze" to be

We’re pleased to announce today that Unlike just got a bit smarter to where you are, when you are, if you’ll forgive our pidgin English.

Why? We’ve teamed up with our friends over Berlin-based Plazes, which allows you to map out where you’re going—and have your friends meet you there. In their own words, “Plazes is a location-aware service, connecting you with the people and places in your vicinity and all over the world.” So kindred spirits, if you will: Even our headquarters are just ‘round the block from each other in Berlin-Mitte.

So how does this work, exactly? It’s pretty simple to use – sign up for a Plazes account, and when browsing through berlin.unlike.net, click on the “Plaze me here” icon on the right hand side of the description.
All of your contacts on Plazes will be automatically informed as to your whereabouts, saving you from sending pricey text messages or dealing with the “the-music-is-too-loud-whaaat??”-conversations that are bound to happen when late-night reveling.

Dear all ... | July 18th

As the city celebrates its third annual Fashion Week, we at unlike.net thought it might be a good time to share where we’ll be this week …

If you missed the supreme, rain-soaked Radiohead concert last Tuesday, worry not— one half of the opening act Modeselektor takes over the decks at Tresor on the 23rd, while old skool-legends Fetisch & DJ Kaos flex their muscles at Scala saturday night. So get on out there and be seen.
ALL SHOWS. ALL COLORS. ALL GOSSIP. ALL ACCESS.

But hey – if you´re tired of glam bam fashion jam,
escape to one of these fine and recommended Berlin beauties …

Dr PONG
Rugged little dingy bar in the heart of Prenzlauerberg. Looks like a teenage clubhouse with its minimal decor…

TENTSTATION
This campsite in the center of Berlin is surrounded by mother nature, but a mere 5 minutes walk from Berlin Hbf station. This is urban adventure at a literally grass roots level…

MOVIEMENTO
When this Kreuzberg theater opened in 1907 (as the Vitascope), cinema was in its infancy and Berlin was one of the new media production centers. Classic and contemporary films daily here…

COMPUTER GAMES MUSEUM
Quite possibly the only museum dedicated to computer games in Germany. Opened a permanent collection in 1997, but downsized to temporary exhibitions and events by 2000 …

Enjoy your weekend!

Streetart - in the true sense of the word

The Nürburgring, known as simply "the Ring" by enthusiasts, is the name of a famous motorsport race track in Nürburg, Germany, built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel, which is about 70 kilometres south of Cologne, 100 kilometres northwest of Mainz, and 120 kilometres northwest of Frankfurt. Originally, the track featured four track configurations: the 28.265 kilometres (17.563 miles) long Gesamtstrecke ("Whole Course"), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km Nordschleife ("Northern Loop"), and the 7.747 km Südschleife ("Southern Loop").

See the publisher pushing the speedlimits - and have fun decyphering "real" street-art, painted on the racetrack ...

There also was a 2.281 km warm-up loop called Zielschleife ("Finish Loop") or better known as Betonschleife, around the pit area.[1] Between 1982 and 1983 the start-finish area was demolished to create a new GP-Strecke, and this is currently used for all major and international racing events. However, the Nordschleife is still in use; nicknamed The Green Hell by Jackie Stewart, it is widely considered the toughest, most dangerous and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world.
