Rocks?
May 31st, 2008
Talking about hotels … this is an actual live entry …
... live and direct from the Ibiza Rocks Hotel Opening in San Antonio.

Why I went there? Because our favorite partner in crime eg. ink Mr Inkadelic himself opened his second branch (aka the fastfood outlet) in this disneyworld-styled rock’n’roll bunker…
First impression at the door: high security. Obviously knowing the british drinking manners, a massive black-dressed security task-force is watching every step from the entrance to the open-air stage … drinks are served in plastic cups (the crowd won’ t deserve it better)and the whole setting’s way too clean. Is this rock’n’roll? Am I too old? Did I miss the transition from dirty deeds to x-box guitar heros?
Well, I just arrived … maybe too early for the real sex’n’drugs & rock’n’roll ambience I was expecting.
Anyway, I gotta go now. Leave the public terminals … Backstage-drinks with Mick’n’Jade are on the schedule.
Progress on Soho House Berlin

Ex-East German Communist Party HQ is about to become the new Berlin Posh Club.
To be opened in spring 2009.
The hulking Bauhaus structure in Prenzlauer Berg – soon to be the newest incarnation from our friends at Soho House – was originally abused by Nazi officials to coordinate Hitler Jugend. After World War II, the Communist Party moved in, making the building their own HQ and giving it the charmingly Orwellian name ‘House of Unity’.
Soho House founder Nick Jones intends to convert the place into a stylish castle for Euro elites, complete with trademark SH rooftop pool and a 42-seat cinema. So much thrilling history to relish while enjoying a fine cocktail in the lounge …
and how about historic karma issues?
We´ll have an eye on the further construction stages and will partner with Soho House for pre-launch events. Stay tuned on blog.unlike and unlike events for upcoming gossip and news …

Custom made. Individual handwork wherever you look. Some of the 30 rooms are hard to handle, some are rather tame. Special instructions accompany your room key. This is truly a new accommodation experience.

Together with the engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, the designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and the body-experts of Bertone, Renzo Rivolta began developing the Iso Rivolta IR 300 (presented on the Torino Show of 1962), an elegant 2 + 2 Coupé with well-balanced technical components and outstanding driving performance:
the 5.4 L V8 Chevrolet Small-Block engine came from General Motors in Detroit, the transmission, too, axles (de Dion) and braking system (4 disc brakes!) came from the large Jaguars of the time. (...) After the sudden death of Renzo Rivolta, his son Piero became the director of Iso Rivolta in 1966 (aged only 25 then). Under his leadership, Iso built the limousine Fidia, “the fastest four seats on wheels” (Advertisement, 1967) with body by Ghia, the Grifo 7 litri (with the GM V8 7 L marine engine) and the 2 + 2 fastback Coupé Lele (1970) with body designed by Bertone, intended as the successor to the IR 300.
Iso Rivolta went bankrupt in 1974, only 1.700 Iso Gran Turismos had been built in those ten years.

Lucky enough to bump into a rare Rivolta in sleepy Vienna, now I am sure:
need a new ride …

Ed on Tour #1
May 16th, 2008
Just a 12hours trainride for me, but a huge step in terms of living culture.
From fast paced Berlin to laidback Vienna. Burenwurst instead of Curry,
pink baroque instead of concrete socialism.
Meeting viennese based editors means spending hours and hours in yes, it´s still allowed to smoke coffeehouses, talking, discussing and having one-after-another Grosser Brauner mit Schlag.
Servas! Will keep you updated …

Colin's fire eagle integration
May 9th, 2008
You sure have heard of Yahoo’s new service fire eagle that has already gained a formidable bit of attention. It offers a centralized platform to store your location information and grants different applications access to it.
Colin Schlueter, a good friend of ours, has developed an experimental fire eagle integration for unlike.
Thanks, Colin!
Fire eagle is still in private beta, but it is definitely worth requesting an invitation if you are not yet signed up.

Tal R Opening at CFA
May 2nd, 2008
Today, Tal R’s creative diversity is astonishing. He playfully moves among media as various as painting, sculpture, textile art, fashion design, and artist books. These media are tools that serve to arrive at a certain goal, nothing more and nothing less. Tal R’s approach can be called a body of rules. Especially in painting, Tal R has again and again set certain rules, like his seven-colour paintings (2004–2007), where he limited his palette to seven paints, or the two hundred paintings of the work cycle House of Prince, where he only used five colours. At the same time, these formal limitations grant him an enormous compositional and thematic freedom.
well, I really like these shoes
... and the location
